Ana Febres-Cordero

Ana Febres-CorderoAna Febres-Cordero is an avid runner, student, and mental health advocate. A suicide survivor who lives with an eating disorder, anxiety and depression, Febres-Cordero is one of the more than 50 volunteers participating in McLean Hospital’s Deconstructing Stigma: A Change in Thought Can Change A Life Campaign. After years of brushing off depressive thoughts, thinking they were nothing serious, Febres-Cordero attempted suicide during her freshman year of college. Thankfully, she survived the attempt and began rigorous psychiatric treatment to combat the depression. With a deep understanding of the mental health and societal challenges often faced by young adults, and knowing that many adolescents are afraid to ask for help, Febres-Cordero regularly speaks publicly about her own experiences to educate and to break down the stigma of mental illness. In 2017, Febres-Cordero ran the Boston Marathon to raise funds for Deconstructing Stigma and later this summer, her portrait will be unveiled at the Logan Airport physical installation of the Deconstructing Stigma campaign. She is currently a student at the University of New Hampshire.
